Agility Ladder Drill for 6A CBs: Improving Quickness and Footwork

๐Ÿ“ Buford WolvesยทWednesday, July 15, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Buford Wolves' secondary is looking fierce this season, and cornerbacks will be key to their success. To improve their agility and footwork, we're introducing the 'Ladder Weave' drill. Set up an agility ladder on the field and have your CBs perform the following sequence: 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Start in a 3-point stance, then weave through the ladder with your feet, focusing on quick, small steps. As you exit the ladder, immediately change direction and weave back through. Coaching cues: 'Quick feet, quick feet,' and 'Stay low, stay fast.' This drill translates to game performance by improving your CBs' ability to quickly change direction and stay in phase with receivers. It's a game-changer for press coverage and zone defense alike.
