The Collins Hill Eagles' coaching staff has developed a high-intensity drill to improve their S players' speed, agility, and reaction time. The 'S Speedster' drill consists of 3 sets of 5 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively sprint 10 yards, planting their outside foot and quickly changing direction to accelerate 10 yards in the opposite direction. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by replicating the sudden changes of direction that S players face in coverage. By improving their ability to quickly accelerate and decelerate, S players can stay one step ahead of opponents and make game-changing plays.
