DeShawn Smith Commits to Arkansas
Benedictine Cadets defensive end DeShawn Smith has committed to the University of Arkansas for the Class of 2027. The 4A prospect chose the Razorbacks over offers from Georgia Tech, Louisville, and Mississippi State. Smith, a 6-foot-4, 230-pound edge rusher, is expected to fit into Arkansas' 3-4 scheme as a strong-side defensive end. The Razorbacks currently have limited depth at the position, providing Smith with a clear path to playing time. Academically, Smith was drawn to Arkansas' strong business program and the university's commitment to student-athlete success. Smith previously held offers from Georgia Tech and Louisville before decommitting in May. He has been training at Benedictine's summer camp, where he has impressed coaches with his pass-rushing skills. Smith's commitment to Arkansas is the first for the Benedictine Cadets in the Class of 2027.
