Speed and Agility for 6A S Players: The 'Ladder to the Top' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Buford WolvesยทWednesday, July 29, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Buford Wolves prepare for another dominant season in 6A, their speed and agility coaches are working with S players to develop the quickness and change of direction needed to dominate on the field. One effective drill to achieve this is the 'Ladder to the Top' drill. Have S players set up a ladder on the ground, then perform the following sequence: 3 sets of 10 reps of 'in-out' footwork, followed by 3 sets of 10 reps of 'Ickey Shuffle' through the ladder. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving S players' ability to quickly change direction and accelerate to the ball, making them more effective in coverage and pursuit. Run this drill 2-3 times a week for optimal results.
