FridayNightPulse Training Tip: LB Speed Shuttle Drill for Mililani Trojans

๐Ÿ“ Mililani TrojansยทThursday, July 2, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Mililani Trojans' open programs, linebackers are working on their speed and agility with the speed shuttle drill. This drill consists of three sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest in between. The setup involves two cones 5 yards apart, with a third cone 10 yards away. The LB starts at the first cone, shuffles to the second cone, backpedals to the first cone, and then sprints to the third cone. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'change of direction.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the LB's ability to quickly close gaps and pursue ball carriers. It also enhances their agility and reaction time, allowing them to stay with receivers and make tackles in space.
