FridayNightPulse: 'Warrior Wreck' Drill for Linebackers
At Kamehameha Warriors Open programs, linebackers are gearing up for the upcoming season with a challenging drill that translates to game performance: the 'Warrior Wreck'. This drill focuses on speed, agility, and tackling technique. Here's how to run it: Set up a series of 3 cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Start with 3 sets of 10 reps, focusing on explosive acceleration through the cones. Next, add a tackling dummy or bag to the final cone. After each rep, immediately transition into a tackling stance and drill a tackle on the dummy. Coaching cues include 'Quick feet, quick hands' and 'Finish the play with a wrap-up tackle'. This drill improves reaction time, agility, and tackling efficiency โ essential skills for linebackers in the HHSAA. Run the 'Warrior Wreck' 2-3 times a week to see improvement in game performance.
