Kicker's Power Leg Drill at Kahuku Red Raiders Open Program
At the Kahuku Red Raiders Open program, kickers are working on building explosive leg strength with the Power Leg Drill. This drill targets the glutes and hamstrings, essential for generating power on kickoffs and field goals. To set up, place a mini-trampoline or a small box on the field. Players start in a lunge position with their kicking leg behind them. They then explosively jump onto the trampoline or box, landing softly on the balls of their feet. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include 'Drive through the ground' and 'Land soft, like a feather.' This drill translates to game performance by increasing leg power and reducing the risk of injury from overstriding. Focus on proper technique and explosive power to take your kicking game to the next level this season.
