Unlock Kicking Range with the 'Ladder to the Endzone' Drill
At the Mililani Trojans Open program, special teams coach, Kai Mana, is pushing his kickers to new heights with the 'Ladder to the Endzone' drill. This high-intensity workout targets the flexibility, strength, and technique required for long-range kicks. To set up the drill, place a ladder 10 yards from the endzone. Athletes start at the 30-yard line, sprint to the ladder, then jump over it, landing in a kicking stance. From there, they kick the ball through the uprights. Complete 3 sets of 5 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues emphasize explosive acceleration, proper kicking form, and follow-through. This drill translates to game performance by increasing kicking range, accuracy, and overall confidence. By incorporating the 'Ladder to the Endzone' drill into their training, kickers can take their game to the next level.
