At Kahuku Red Raiders' Open programs, WRs are honing their skills with a specific drill designed to improve separation and ball tracking. The 'Route Runner's Rebound' drill involves 3 sets of 5 reps. Set up 5 cones in a zig-zag pattern, 5 yards apart. Start at the first cone, sprint to the second, then immediately change direction to the third. As you reach the third cone, jump up and catch a pass from a coach or teammate. Focus on using your inside foot to plant and explosively jump up. Coaching cues: 'Fast feet, quick hands!' and 'Catch it high, catch it tight!' This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to quickly change direction and track the ball in traffic.
