At Kahuku Red Raiders open programs, S players can improve their speed and agility with the 'Shuttle-Hop' drill. This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps. Players start at one end of a 10-yard line, then sprint to the other end, immediately performing a box jump onto a 12-inch box. After landing, they quickly change direction and sprint back to the starting point. Coaching cues include: 'Quick feet, explosive jump' and 'Change direction on the hop.' This drill translates to game performance by improving S players' ability to quickly close gaps and change direction on the field. It also enhances their power and explosiveness, allowing them to make more effective tackles and coverages.
