FridayNightPulse: LB Drill for Speed and Agility
At Kamehameha Warriors' Open programs, linebackers are gearing up for a dominant season with a specific drill designed to improve speed and agility. The 'L-Shape Weave' drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps. Players start at the top of an L-shaped cone setup, then weave through the cones while maintaining a low center of gravity and keeping their eyes up. As they exit the L, they immediately pivot 180 degrees and repeat the process. Coaches cue players to 'stay light on their feet' and 'keep the speed in their legs.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time and agility in tight spaces, allowing linebackers to quickly close gaps and make tackles. By incorporating the L-Shape Weave drill into their training, Kamehameha Warriors' LBs will be ready to take on the competition this season.
