FridayNightPulse: 'Warrior Speed Bag' Drill Boosts LB Performance

๐Ÿ“ Kamehameha WarriorsยทFriday, July 17, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At Kamehameha Warriors' Open programs, Linebacker coaches are emphasizing a high-intensity drill to prepare players for the upcoming season. The 'Warrior Speed Bag' drill targets agility, reaction time, and tackling technique. Players start in a 3-point stance, then quickly change direction to a defensive position, and finally, explosively close the distance to a speed bag held by a trainer. The trainer releases the bag after 2-3 seconds, and players attempt to make a tackle. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaches cue players to 'quick feet, fast hands,' and to 'explode to the ball.' This drill translates to game performance by improving reaction time, agility, and tackling efficiency, ultimately giving Warriors' LBs a competitive edge on the field.
