Crusaders' Camp: RB Drill to Improve Vision and Speed

๐Ÿ“ Saint Louis CrusadersยทSaturday, July 25, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At the Saint Louis Crusaders' summer camp, running backs are working on a drill designed to enhance their vision and speed. The 'Zig-Zag' drill involves setting up cones in a zig-zag pattern, with a defender stationed at the end of the course. The RB starts at the beginning of the course and must weave through the cones while maintaining a high level of speed. The defender will try to cut off the RB's path. The drill is set to 3 sets of 5 reps. Coaching cues include 'keep your eyes up' and 'stay low'. This drill translates to game performance by improving the RB's ability to read blocks and find holes in the defense. It also enhances their ability to change direction quickly and maintain top-end speed.
