๐ Saint Louis CrusadersยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider
At Saint Louis Crusaders Open programs, Tight End coach, Mike Thompson, emphasizes the importance of precise route running. To improve this skill, Thompson's team runs the 'Route Box Drill.' TE's start at the line of scrimmage, facing the quarterback. The coach calls out a specific route (e.g. 'Out and In'). The TE must run the route, keeping their feet inside the 'box' (shoulder-width space) between the hash marks. The TE repeats the route 3 sets of 5 reps each, focusing on staying within the box. Coaching cues include 'Keep it tight' and 'Don't overcut.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to create separation and find open spaces in coverage.
