Kahuku Red Raiders OL Summer Training Tip: Building a Stronger Anchor Block
At Kahuku Red Raiders' open programs, OL players are working on a crucial drill to improve their anchor block technique. The 'Power Position' drill involves three sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest in between sets. Players start in a three-point stance, then explosively drive their feet into the ground, generating power and speed. As they drive, they focus on keeping their chest up and their shoulders down, maintaining a strong anchor point. Coaching cues include 'Drive your feet, not your hands' and 'Keep your chest up, your shoulders down.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing OL players to generate more power and speed at the point of contact, giving them a better chance to block defenders and create holes for their RBs. By mastering the 'Power Position,' Kahuku Red Raiders OL players will be ready to take on the toughest opponents.
