Flag Football Scholarship Opportunities Emerge for Texas Athletes Amid HHSAA Expansion
As the University Interscholastic League (HHSAA) expands its flag football pilot district, Texas high school athletes are gaining access to new scholarship pathways. While no NCAA Division 1 schools in Texas currently offer flag football scholarships, several out-of-state programs are actively recruiting and offering opportunities. The University of Nebraska, set to launch its inaugural NCAA Division 1 flag football season in 2028, is a prime destination for top talent. Coaches Liz and Katie Sowers are building a powerhouse program, offering scholarships to student-athletes. Other NAIA programs, including Ottawa University, Kansas, Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are also recruiting and offering scholarships. For Texas athletes, this expansion presents a chance to secure a spot on a top-ranked team.
