As the 2026 high school football season approaches, Dowling Catholic Maroons' offensive linemen are gearing up for a tough 4A schedule. To improve their strength, agility, and technique, the coaching staff has implemented the 'Bull in the Hole' drill. This exercise targets the linemen's ability to generate power and control in the hole, essential for success in the IHSAA's Class 4A. The drill involves three sets of 10 reps: (1) players start in a three-point stance, then explosively drive their feet into the ground and push a heavy sled 10 yards; (2) players perform a lateral shuffle while maintaining a tight stance, then immediately drive into the sled; (3) players start in a two-point stance, then explosively drive their feet into the ground and push the sled 10 yards while maintaining a tight, compact body position. Coaches should emphasize proper footwork, hip drive, and core engagement throughout the drill.
