Cade Smith: Dowling Catholic's Defensive Force to be Reckoned With
As a sophomore, Cade Smith recorded 12 sacks, a Dowling Catholic single-season record for a defensive end. The Class of 2025 standout's impressive performance earned him a spot on the 4A All-State team. However, Smith's junior year took an unexpected turn when he suffered a season-ending ACL injury. The setback would have deterred a lesser athlete, but Smith used the time to rehab and refocus. He returned to the field this summer, stronger and more determined than ever. Smith's hard work paid off as he earned a starting role on the Maroons' defensive line. With his speed, agility and relentless pursuit of the quarterback, Smith is poised to be one of the top defensive players in 4A this fall. Scouts are watching to see how Smith's ACL injury affects his explosiveness off the edge and whether he can maintain his high level of production throughout the season.
