Explosive Power for Mountain View Mavericks RBs: The Box Drill

๐Ÿ“ Mountain View MavericksยทWednesday, July 8, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

To improve their explosiveness and power, Mountain View Mavericks running backs can benefit from the box drill. This drill targets the key muscles used in acceleration and deceleration, essential for RBs in 5A football. To set up the drill, place a series of 5-6 boxes or cones in a zig-zag pattern, 3-4 yards apart. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Start at the first box, explosively jump over it, and immediately change direction to the next box. Focus on landing softly and quickly recovering to maintain speed. This drill translates to game performance by improving RBs' ability to quickly accelerate and decelerate, allowing them to break tackles and make big plays.
