Boise Brave QBs Prepare for Season with 'Read and React' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Boise BraveยทSunday, July 12, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Boise Brave quarterbacks are honing their skills with a crucial drill that translates to game performance: the 'Read and React' drill. To start, quarterbacks line up 5 yards behind the center, with a defender 5 yards in front of them. The center takes a snap and hands off to a running back, who runs a predetermined route. The quarterback must read the defense and react accordingly, making a throw or taking off running. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Coaching cues include: 'Read the numbers, not the guy,' and 'React to the defense, don't anticipate.' This drill improves reaction time, decision-making, and accuracy, all essential for success in the 5A Idaho high school football league.
