Brute Strength for Boise Brave OL: The 3-Box Drill
For 5A programs like Boise Brave, dominating on the line is crucial. To build the strength and power needed, we're introducing the 3-Box Drill. This exercise targets the legs, core, and upper body, translating to improved drive blocking and pass protection. Set up three boxes or platforms of varying heights: 12 inches, 24 inches, and 36 inches. OL players will perform 3 sets of 10 reps, alternating between each box. Coaching cues include: 'Drive through the box,' 'Extend your hips,' and 'Keep your core tight.' This drill develops the explosive power and balance needed to take down defenders and maintain a strong stance. By incorporating the 3-Box Drill into your summer camp, Boise Brave OL players will be better equipped to handle the physical demands of the season.
