Loyola Academy Names New Defensive Coordinator
Loyola Academy has promoted assistant coach Michael Johnson to defensive coordinator, the program announced Thursday. Johnson, a four-year veteran of the Ramblers' staff, has developed several key players during his tenure. The Ramblers finished 7-4 last season, competing in the 8A classification. Johnson's elevation is expected to bolster the team's defensive unit, which has been a focal point of the program's rebuilding efforts. The move comes as Loyola Academy looks to rebound from a disappointing 2025 campaign. Recruiting has been a key area of focus for the program, with Johnson playing a crucial role in identifying and developing top talent. His promotion is seen as a positive step in the program's bid to compete for a state title in 2026.
