Elijah Taylor: A New Target for Mount Carmel
Elijah Taylor, the sophomore wide receiver for the Mount Carmel Caravan, caught 12 passes for 175 yards in his first game with the team, a 28-20 victory over Lincoln-Way East. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound receiver transferred from out-of-state, but quickly earned a starting role in the 8A Illinois high school football landscape. Taylor's impressive debut was marked by his ability to separate from defenders and make plays down the field. His chemistry with quarterback Ryan Jenkins was evident, as the two connected on several big plays. With Taylor's addition, the Caravan's passing game has become a formidable force in the Chicago Suburban League. Scouts are now watching to see how Taylor adapts to the IHSA's rule changes, particularly the new restrictions on defensive contact. They're also eager to see if he can maintain his level of production throughout the season, as well as his ability to contribute in the run game. Taylor's impressive start has him on the radar of college scouts, who are looking for talented receivers to fill their rosters in the Class of 2027.
