Speed Separation Drill for 7A WRs: A Game-Changer for St. Rita Mustangs

๐Ÿ“ St. Rita MustangsยทSaturday, July 25, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, WRs at top 7A programs like St. Rita Mustangs can take their game to the next level with the speed separation drill. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Players start at the line of scrimmage, then sprint 5 yards downfield, planting their outside foot and making a sharp cut to the inside. As they accelerate, they focus on keeping their inside shoulder down and their eyes on the quarterback. Coaches cue: 'Keep it tight, keep it fast.' This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to separate from defenders and create space for big plays. It also enhances their agility and acceleration, making them more elusive in the open field.
