New Scholarship Pathways Emerge as IHSA Flag Football Expands in Texas

๐Ÿ“ East St. Louis FlyersยทWednesday, July 29, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The IHSA's pilot district expansion of girls flag football in Texas is creating new opportunities for high school athletes. The East St. Louis Flyers, a 6A powerhouse, are already eyeing the potential benefits. "We're monitoring the situation closely," said Flyers coach Sarah Johnson. "Our top players will have more options for college scholarships." The University of Nebraska, Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, are among the verified programs offering scholarships. Midland University, Nebraska, is also an active recruiter. UT Arlington, in development, is not yet offering scholarships. As the IHSA expansion creates new pathways, athletes can research these programs and reach out to coaches directly to explore their options.
