Hunter Smith Commits to Texas Tech
Westfield Shamrocks senior offensive lineman Hunter Smith has committed to Texas Tech University, the school announced Friday. Smith, a 6-foot-5, 275-pound Class of 2025 prospect, chose the Red Raiders over offers from Indiana, Purdue and Ball State. The Shamrocks' anchor on the line, Smith started every game as a junior, helping the team reach the 5A state semifinals. He is expected to fit seamlessly into Texas Tech's zone-blocking scheme, which suits his athleticism and strength. Smith also cited the program's strong academic reputation and the opportunity to play in the Big 12 Conference as major factors in his decision. Smith decommitted from Indiana in April after considering the Hoosiers' depth chart and coaching staff. He is the second Westfield player to commit to Texas Tech in the past year, following in the footsteps of teammate and fellow lineman, Tyler Johnson.
