FridayNightPulse: LB Drill for Cathedral Fighting Irish

๐Ÿ“ Cathedral Fighting IrishยทThursday, July 16, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, 5A programs like Cathedral Fighting Irish are looking to dominate on defense. For linebackers, speed and agility are crucial in covering tight ends and running backs. To improve these skills, try the 'Ladder Shuffle Drill'. Set up a ladder with 5-7 rungs. Have your LBs start at the bottom, then quickly shuffle through the ladder, focusing on quick footwork and changing direction. Do 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet', 'change of direction', and 'stay low'. This drill translates to game performance by improving LBs' ability to rapidly close gaps and cover tight spaces. It's a game-changer for Cathedral's Fighting Irish defense this season.
