Greyhound Blitz: Carmel's Linebacker Drill for Summer Camp

๐Ÿ“ Carmel GreyhoundsยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the Carmel Greyhounds prepare for another 6A season, linebackers coach, Mike Davis, emphasizes the importance of speed and agility in the linebacker position. To improve these skills, Davis has developed a drill that targets the Greyhounds' linebackers. The 'Blitz Shuffle' drill consists of 3 sets of 20 reps with 30 seconds of rest in between. Players start in a defensive stance, then quickly shuffle 5 yards to their right, planting their outside foot and exploding back to the starting position. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'aggressive movement.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a linebacker's ability to quickly close gaps and make tackles in space.
