Boosting Kicking Distance: The Center Grove Trojans' Summer Camp Drill

๐Ÿ“ Center Grove TrojansยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At the Center Grove Trojans' summer camp, K players can expect to tackle the 'Step-Up, Plant, and Strike' drill, designed to increase kicking distance and accuracy. This drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 2-minute rest period between sets. Start by having the kicker stand 10 yards from the ball, then step up onto a box or bench with their non-kicking foot. Plant their kicking foot beside the ball, keeping their ankle locked and toes pointed down. Finally, strike the ball with a firm, follow-through motion. Coaching cues include 'step up high and strong,' 'plant your foot and stay balanced,' and 'strike the ball with confidence.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the kicker's technique, power, and consistency, ultimately leading to more successful field goals and extra points.
