Building a Stronger Foundation: The Westfield Shamrocks' OL Power Drill

๐Ÿ“ Westfield ShamrocksยทThursday, July 23, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, the Westfield Shamrocks are focusing on building a stronger foundation for their 5A offense. One key drill is the 'Power Position' exercise, designed to improve OL players' ability to anchor and drive in the trenches. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then explosively drive their feet into the ground, extending their arms and locking out their elbows. Coaching cues include 'chest up, eyes forward' and 'drive through your heels.' This drill translates to game performance by improving OL players' ability to maintain their position and generate power at the point of attack. By incorporating this drill into their training regimen, the Shamrocks are building a strong foundation for a successful season.
