Center Grove Trojans QBs Prepare for the Season with the 'Read and React' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Center Grove TrojansยทSunday, July 26, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

Quarterbacks at 6A programs like Center Grove Trojans need to be prepared for the speed and complexity of their opponents' defenses. To improve their ability to read and react, the Trojans will be running the 'Read and React' drill this summer. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest in between sets. On each rep, the QB will start in the shotgun formation and receive a play call. They will then read the defensive alignment and react accordingly, either handing off to the RB or dropping back to pass. Coaching cues include 'eyes on the defender' and 'react to the front side.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the QB's ability to quickly identify and adjust to defensive schemes, making them a more effective leader on the field.
