Speed and Agility for 6A WRs: The 'L-Cone Weave' Drill

๐Ÿ“ Center Grove TrojansยทMonday, July 27, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

At top 6A programs like Center Grove, wide receivers need to be explosive, agile, and quick on their feet. To improve these skills, we recommend the 'L-Cone Weave' drill. Set up 5 cones in an 'L' shape, with the top cone 10 yards from the bottom cone. Have your WRs start at the bottom cone and weave through the course, focusing on quick footwork and change of direction. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving a WR's ability to create separation and get in and out of breaks quickly. It also helps build confidence and reaction time, essential for making plays down the field.
