Sprint and Shuttle Drill for 5A S Players: Cathedral Fighting Irish Prep
The Cathedral Fighting Irish are gearing up for another dominant season in 5A, and their S players are no exception. To improve their speed and agility, coach Mike has implemented a sprint and shuttle drill that's yielding impressive results. The drill consists of 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a 3-point stance, then sprint 10 yards to a designated marker. They quickly change direction, performing a 5-yard shuttle back to the starting point. As they return, they focus on maintaining top-end speed and explosive acceleration. Coaching cues emphasize proper footwork, keeping the head down, and driving through the ground. This drill translates to game performance by enhancing S players' ability to quickly close gaps and cover receivers in man-to-man coverage.
