Golden Eagles' Summer Prep: The Power Clean Drill
The Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles' offensive line is known for their dominance on the field, and a key part of their summer prep is a drill that focuses on building power and explosiveness. The Power Clean drill involves players starting in a squat position, then explosively lifting a weighted barbell up to chest height before quickly lowering it back down. The drill is typically done in sets of 3-5 reps, with 3-5 sets per session. This drill works by building the player's ability to generate power from their legs and transfer it to their upper body, allowing them to explosively drive block opponents. By incorporating the Power Clean into their summer prep, the Golden Eagles' OL players are able to develop the strength and speed they need to take their game to the next level.
