Building a Better Block: A 5A OL Drill for Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles

๐Ÿ“ Bishop Carroll Golden EaglesยทThursday, July 2, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles 5A OL players can improve their technique and strength with the 'Power Position' drill. Set up a line of 3-4 cones, spaced 3 yards apart. Players start in a neutral position, then explosively drive through the first cone, maintaining a tight, inside shoulder position. As they reach the second cone, they transition to a wide, outside shoulder position, keeping their eyes on the target. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaches should emphasize proper footwork, hip drive, and body positioning. This drill translates to game performance by improving OL's ability to quickly adjust to defensive schemes and generate power in the block. By mastering the 'Power Position,' Golden Eagles OL can dominate in the trenches.
