Blue Valley Northwest OL Summer Drill: Building Power and Agility

๐Ÿ“ Blue Valley Northwest HuskiesยทFriday, July 3, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This summer, Blue Valley Northwest Huskies OL coach, John Smith, is focusing on a drill that targets power and agility in his lineman. The 'Medicine Ball Slam and Shuffle' drill is a game-changer for 6A programs. Players will perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Each rep consists of slamming a 20-pound medicine ball to the ground, followed by a 5-yard shuffle to the left and right. Coaching cues include 'Drive through the ball' and 'Keep your feet light.' This drill translates to game performance by improving explosive power and agility in tight spaces. By incorporating this drill into their summer training, Huskies OL players will be better equipped to handle the physical demands of 6A football.
