Firebirds' Flag Football Talent Poised for National Opportunities
As KSHSAA's flag football pilot district expansion creates new scholarship pathways for Texas athletes, the Lawrence Free State Firebirds are primed to capitalize on the opportunity. With verified scholarship programs in place at the University of Nebraska, Ottawa University, Kansas, Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, Firebirds' flag football standouts can now pursue their collegiate dreams. Nebraska's Power 4 flagship program, led by coaches Liz and Katie Sowers, is set to launch in 2028, offering six scholarships. Meanwhile, Ottawa University, Kansas, a national powerhouse, offers up to 12 scholarships. Keiser University, Florida, and Midland University, Nebraska, are active recruiters, providing additional avenues for talented athletes.
