Derby Panthers RB Austin Young Commits to Texas Tech
Derby Panthers running back Austin Young has committed to Texas Tech University, the school announced Friday. Young, a Class of 2026 prospect, chose the Red Raiders over other Power Five offers from Kansas State and Oklahoma State. The 5-foot-10, 190-pound back excels in a zone-blocking scheme, which aligns with Texas Tech's offense. He also sees an opportunity to contribute immediately, as the Red Raiders' depth chart is expected to be wide open. Additionally, Young was drawn to Texas Tech's academic program, which offers a strong business and engineering curriculum. Young held a previous commitment to Kansas State but decommitted in April to explore other options. He will join a Texas Tech backfield that features a mix of veteran running backs and incoming freshmen.
