Rushing the Edge: A DE Drill for Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles
This summer, Bishop Carroll Golden Eagles defensive ends can take their game to the next level with a focused drill that targets speed, agility, and strength. The 'Rush and Recovery' drill consists of three sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds rest between sets. Players start in a three-point stance, then explosively rush 10 yards, planting their outside foot and quickly recovering to a defensive stance. Coaching cues emphasize keeping the head up, driving through the feet, and exploding out of the stance. This drill translates to game performance by improving edge speed, agility, and the ability to quickly change direction. It also enhances strength by targeting the muscles used in the rush and recovery motion. By incorporating this drill into their summer training, Bishop Carroll DEs can dominate on the edge this season.
