Lawrence Free State Firebirds Flag Football Athletes Target Nebraska's Inaugural 2028 Season

๐Ÿ“ Lawrence Free State FirebirdsยทSunday, July 19, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

As the University of Nebraska prepares to launch its inaugural NCAA Division 1 flag football season in 2028, prospects from the Lawrence Free State Firebirds are taking notice. Coaches Liz and Katie Sowers have already begun recruiting top talent, and the Cornhuskers' Power 4 status ensures a competitive edge. For Lawrence athletes seeking verified scholarship pathways, Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, offer NAIA opportunities with up to 12 scholarships. Midland University, Nebraska, is also an active recruiter. While UT Arlington's NCAA Division 1 program is in development, it has not yet begun offering scholarships. Firebirds athletes interested in pursuing flag football scholarships should focus on building relationships with these programs and attending summer camps to increase their visibility.
