Golden Eagles' WRs Get Ready for Takeoff with 'Route Runner' Drill

At Bishop Carroll High School, the 5A Golden Eagles are gearing up for another championship season. To get their wide receivers in top shape, the coaching staff has developed a drill that targets speed, agility, and route-running precision. The 'Route Runner' drill involves three sets of 10 reps, with 30 seconds of rest between sets. Players start at the line of scrimmage, then sprint 10 yards before making a sharp cut to the inside, mimicking a slant route. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'eyes on the target.' This drill translates to game performance by improving WRs' ability to quickly change direction and get open against defenders. By incorporating the 'Route Runner' drill into their summer training, Bishop Carroll's WRs will be ready to take on the competition come kickoff.
