Fire Up Your 6A Kicker: The 3-Point Stance Drill
As the summer heat begins to dissipate, K players at 6A programs like Lawrence Free State Firebirds are gearing up for a strong season. One drill that can help take their game to the next level is the 3-Point Stance Drill. This drill focuses on building strength, power, and control in the kicking leg. To perform the drill: start in a 3-point stance with the kicking leg forward, then explosively drive through the ground and lift the kicking leg off the ground. Hold for 1 second, then slowly lower back down to the starting position. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include keeping the back straight, engaging the core, and driving through the ground with the non-kicking leg. This drill translates to game performance by improving kicking accuracy and power, allowing K players to make clutch kicks in critical situations.
