Covington Catholic Colonels: LB Drill for Speed and Agility

๐Ÿ“ Covington Catholic ColonelsยทFriday, July 3, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

The Covington Catholic Colonels linebackers are gearing up for the 2026 season with a focus on speed and agility. One key drill that Coach will be implementing in training camp is the 'Ladder Shuttle.' This drill is designed to improve quickness, reaction time, and change-of-direction speed. To set up the drill, place a ladder on the field with the rungs spaced 3 feet apart. Players will start at one end of the ladder, then perform a 3-step approach before shuffling through the ladder and back out to the starting point. Complete 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet,' 'stay low,' and 'explosive out of the ladder.' This drill translates to game performance by allowing linebackers to quickly close gaps and change direction on the fly, making them more effective in pursuit and coverage.
