Unlocking Speed and Agility for DEs: The Trinity Shamrocks' 3-Step Lateral Shuffle Drill
This summer, Trinity Shamrocks' defensive end prospects are putting in extra work with a 3-step lateral shuffle drill designed to improve their speed, agility, and reaction time. The drill consists of three 10-yard cones set up in a zig-zag pattern. Players start at one end of the cones and shuffle laterally through the course, focusing on quick footwork and explosive acceleration. Coaches cue players to 'stay low and light' and 'drive through the feet.' Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, resting for 30 seconds between sets. This drill translates to game performance by allowing DEs to quickly change direction and pursue the ball carrier. By incorporating this drill into their training regimen, Trinity Shamrocks' DEs will be better equipped to dominate on the field this season.
