Covington Catholic Colonels Flag Football Players Eye New Scholarship Opportunities Amid KHSAA Expansion
As the University Interscholastic League (KHSAA) prepares to expand its flag football pilot district into Texas, high school athletes from the Lone Star State are taking notice of the potential scholarship pathways opening up. Covington Catholic Colonels players, for instance, are eyeing opportunities at Power 4 school University of Nebraska, which will launch its inaugural NCAA Division 1 flag football program in 2028 under the guidance of coaches Liz and Katie Sowers. Other NAIA options, such as Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, are also recruiting actively. Midland University, Nebraska, is another NAIA school with a strong presence in the region. While UT Arlington's NCAA Division 1 program is still in development, athletes can begin building relationships with coaches to stay ahead of the curve.
