Summer Training for Tight Ends: Boyle County Rebels' Block-Pull Drill

๐Ÿ“ Boyle County RebelsยทWednesday, July 29, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

This week's training tip focuses on a key drill for 4A tight ends, like those at Boyle County Rebels. The Block-Pull drill targets the TE's ability to seal the edge and create space for the quarterback. To set up, pair TEs with a blocking sled or a teammate. Have the TE start in a 3-point stance, then explosively block the sled or teammate for 3 seconds. Immediately pull the sled or teammate 5 yards downfield, keeping a secure block on the defender. Repeat for 3 sets of 10 reps. Coaching cues include: 'Seal the edge!' and 'Pull, don't push!' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to create space and finish blocks, allowing them to be a more effective receiver and blocker.
