Male Bulldogs' Coach Unleashes the 'Bull Rush' Drill for 6A Dominance
This summer, KHSAA 6A powerhouse Male Bulldogs are gearing up for another championship run with a high-intensity drill that simulates the physicality of a game-day rush. The 'Bull Rush' drill targets the linemen's ability to explode off the line and overpower opponents. To set up the drill, divide the linemen into pairs with one player as the blocker and the other as the rusher. Set up a series of cones or markers 5 yards apart, simulating a defensive line. The blocker must engage the rusher immediately, using proper footwork and hand placement. The rusher, meanwhile, must explode off the line, aiming for the blocker's chest. Aim for 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 2-minute rest between sets. The 'Bull Rush' drill translates to game performance by improving linemen's ability to generate power and control in the trenches.
