FridayNightPulse Training Tip: Edna Karr Cougars TE Drill
The Edna Karr Cougars, a 4A powerhouse in Louisiana, rely on their tight ends to be versatile and dominant on the field. To prepare their TEs for the upcoming season, we've developed a drill that focuses on route running and separation. The 'TE Triangle Drill' involves setting up three cones in a triangular formation, with the TE starting at the apex. The coach or trainer will call out a route (e.g. 'out', 'in', or 'dig'), and the TE must quickly change direction and run to the corresponding cone. Perform 3 sets of 10 reps, with a 30-second rest between sets. Coaching cues include 'quick feet' and 'stay low.' This drill translates to game performance by improving the TE's ability to quickly adjust to defensive coverage and create separation from defenders.
