New Scholarship Pathways Emerge for Texas Girls Flag Football Athletes
The LHSAA's decision to expand its flag football pilot district in Texas has created new opportunities for girls flag football athletes to secure scholarships at top programs. Evangel Christian Eagles, a 5A powerhouse from Shreveport, is poised to benefit from this development. Coaches Liz and Katie Sowers at the University of Nebraska are actively recruiting top talent for the Cornhuskers' inaugural 2028 season. Meanwhile, Ottawa University, Kansas, and Keiser University, Florida, offer up to 12 scholarships for flag football players. Midland University, Nebraska, is also an active recruiter. Texas-based UT Arlington is developing its program, but has not yet offered scholarships. For Evangel Christian Eagles athletes, this means concrete actions can be taken to pursue verified scholarship pathways. Athletes should research and reach out to these programs to explore potential opportunities.
