Patriot Power: Building a Dominant OL Line with the 'Plyo-Push-Pull' Drill

๐Ÿ“ John Curtis PatriotsยทFriday, July 24, 2026ยทFridayNightPulse Insider

For 4A programs like John Curtis Patriots, having a strong OL line is crucial to success. To build explosive power and improve technique, we recommend incorporating the 'Plyo-Push-Pull' drill into your summer training. This drill consists of three sets of 3 reps each, with 30 seconds rest in between. Set 1: Players start in a plank position, then explosively jump up (plyo) and immediately push themselves into a push-up position. Set 2: From the push-up position, players quickly pull themselves back into a plank position. Set 3: Players repeat the sequence, focusing on quick transitions and explosive power. Coaching cues include 'jump high, push hard, pull fast.' This drill translates to game performance by improving players' ability to quickly generate power and change direction, making them more effective blockers and pass protectors.
